When we can help
Your business has recurring legal demand across contracts, ownership and operations, but does not need a full in-house legal function.
What the work can include
- Regular triage and prioritisation of commercial legal issues
- Contract and governance support within agreed capacity
- Preparation for transactions and investment
- Pre-dispute strategy and negotiated resolution where scoped
- Coordination with accountants, corporate advisers and specialist counsel
Decisions to work through
Priorities and capacity
Which matters need attention first, and what volume of recurring work is expected? Agree how urgent requests and larger projects will be handled.
Instructions and responsibility
Who can give instructions and make commercial decisions? Identify the people responsible for legal work, business actions and other advisers’ input.
Continuity and follow-through
How will open issues, dates and next steps be tracked? The arrangement should make responsibilities visible as the business and its priorities change.
What you should come away with
Continuity, agreed priorities and a clearer view of current legal work, with larger projects identified and separately scoped.
Where to start
An agreed-capacity counsel arrangement begins with a discussion of your objectives and the documents already in place.
To help scope the work, gather:
- Your recurring legal needs and current priorities
- Expected work volumes, key stakeholders and existing advisers
- Known transactions, deadlines and issues requiring early attention
How fees are approached
Support is agreed around capacity, priorities and the type of work required. A monthly arrangement may be combined with separately scoped projects, subject to availability.
Ongoing counsel is not unlimited legal support. Major transactions, court litigation and specialist advice sit outside the arrangement unless expressly included.
Inclusions, revisions, delivery stages, assumptions and responsibilities are set out in the engagement before work begins.
